International freight quotes for imports and exports
PortLoop helps importers and exporters obtain a planning estimate and request a formal freight quote from partner agents. For an FCL or LCL ocean shipment, you can also create a free tender and invite your own forwarders to compete.
Estimate international freight
FCL, LCL and air freight quotes
Compare full-container-load (FCL), less-than-container-load (LCL) and air freight options according to your cargo, schedule and route. For FCL, identify container type and quantity. For LCL, provide total volume and weight. For air freight, provide dimensions and weight so the agent can validate chargeable weight.
The standard quote workflow supports imports and exports. The freight tender form currently covers FCL and LCL ocean cargo; it is a separate, optional way to gather competing quotes.
Information needed for a reliable shipping quote
- Origin and destination countries and ports or airports.
- Cargo description, packing, gross weight and volume.
- Container type and quantity, where applicable.
- Incoterm, expected sailing or shipping date and latest acceptable transit-time.
- Free-time, transshipment restrictions, dangerous goods details and insurance needs.
Local charges, storage, demurrage, detention, inspections and terminal charges are included only when expressly confirmed in the formal quote. Check exactly what the agent’s offer covers.
Planning estimate versus a confirmed freight rate
An estimate is a starting point for budgeting, not a guaranteed booking or sailing commitment. Final rates depend on carrier capacity, route, validity, currency and the scope accepted by the forwarder. Confirm all terms before contracting.
PortLoop’s tender workflow uses a fixed all-in USD total including origin and destination charges. The standard quotation workflow may have different terms, so review the applicable quote.
